Very nice capture, especially the one with the (sand) worm in its beak.  This bird looks very similar to the Oystercatchers that I used to see in southern New Zealand many years ago.

Bear is right. I had the same thought as Hugh and checked on NZ oystercatchers. Although they look similar, the NZ and Aussie oystercatchers have different species names.

Thank you both for your confirmation that NZ and Australian oystercatchers are different.

I well remember the chatter from the NZ ones, especially in the long summer evenings.
