For lenses with lens collar/foot, attach the PB directly or to a rail, most rails like RRS comes with an eye for that.
One PD anchor on the lens, one on camera.
Both on the lens.
Quite obvious when you try it out if it works with the lens in question ;)

D5 + Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 VR2, with PD "anchor links", 3 on each body, and 1 on RRS Arca Swiss rail + PD Slide.

I'm using these "anchor links" since their inception. They are now on their fourth generation (v4). There is also a "wear indicator": when the strap on the anchor becomes yellowish (from grey, outer core), links should be replaced.

This gives me confidence that my venture into the Peak Design Strap on my D7200 and much smaller lenses will be  safe one.  :)

Well, maybe one of our Japanese connections can clarify if this is Nikon or not  ;)

I cannot locate the same page, but Nikon is taking orders now.  Nikon will start to ship Peak Design straps in Nikon color on November 9th:

Thanks Akira! Ethan was of the opinion that Nikon doesn't sell 3rd party products, is this a first?

Actually, no.  Nikon has collaborated with different brands to produce original accessories and camera bags over the years.
