Provence June 2019
« on: June 27, 2019, 17:30:44 »
Gunver and I have been to Provence before, but always in August, where the lavender fields have been harvested, so we decided to go in June this year.
Well besides the normal high temperature in June, we got a hot spell, so we see temperatures around 40 degrees (Celsius)!
But we have now seen the lavender in its full purple spell, lovely, so we may post a few here ;)
I will start with one, then Gunver will post here as well.

At last I saw the lavenders in bloom, nice.
I wanted to get close.

Hot lavender, again high temperatures across Europe, do i long for old fashioned summers.

Today it was very hot, so not many pictures.
They measured 44.3 degrees in Carpentras only 98km from our stay! It is a record hight in France.
The only places to be in is the car or the hotel room 8)
Some pictures from yesterday and today.
#1 Going home last evening
#2 A place we have stayed at in the past, more the 12 years ago, now in a bad state, no more B&B, the dog was a son of the one there was there when we visited the place.
#3 Near the Gorge du Verdon, after the dam
#4 We saw clouds! The temperature was close to 40 degrees according to our car, 50 when parked!

Wonderful pictures of those lavender fields and part of Carpentras...! Your plight isn't over as temperature went up to 45° in the Gard (official under shadow), I wouldn't want to be stuck in a car with such temperatures! It should hold up to Sunday :-\

It was sad to see Aubanel in this state, we have good memories of our vacations there.
It is not all lavenders, today we have sunflowers ;)

We used the cars aircondition to keep cold.

Both the lavender and the sunflower fields are fantastic!  Thank you for sharing.

Thank you both for sharing the images from your 2019 Provence trip.  I still remember my high school French teacher spending a lot of time talking about this area of France.  I can now see why he was so taken with it.

Thank you all for the nice words.
We will post some more, but the high temperatures do strain us Vikings a bit ;)

On our way to Nyons, we had some lavender fields, so you will not miss it ;)
And of course also my take on Mont Ventoux.
After arrival in Nyons, we did nothing so only the local will life was explored with my 105mm f4 macro on there Df.
If some know the name of the bug in #4, I would be glad to know.

We call those "Punaise des bois" (wood thumbtack), they usually emit a bad smell when crushed  :o
