In the L.A. area, the manhole covers themselves are very drab and undecorated, and so require additional help.

I had never thought i would be photographing sewer covers ...

[Edited to add: this is in The Netherlands, to more precise in the town of Eersel. "Vuilwater" means dirty water]

There are also round ones around, but I could depict that one without breaking any isolation controls!

I thought the weed added a nice touch!

Corno alle Scale, Apennines, near road's end just before the ski slopes: 1500 m

I really liked the beech leaves and nuts on top of the manhole, they add uniqueness to an otherwise ordinary piece of metal.
