David Paterson my hero!
« on: January 13, 2019, 22:39:46 »
I have a real interest in Japanese culture and know David Paterson is a great photographer. When David announced he was having an exhibition of his images of Japan. I immediately booked train tickets to Stirling.

On arrival at Stirling station, nursing a sore foot I walked gingerly the short distance to the gallery. It was a very impressive classical building which gave pleasure walking up to and entering. I arrived just in time to listen to the great man give a talk to the packed gallery. Then I put on my readers and started to examine the images on the walls. They were all stunning but some were truly mesmerising.

I have been to many photography exhibitions and David's was up there with the best I have seen. If you have the ability to go don’t hesitate. David is adamant this will be his last exhibition so it may be your last chance. And please don’t think seeing the images online compares with going to the exhibition. It is the difference between watching the footy on telly or going to the match.

David gave me an envelope but I was too embarrassed to open it at the exhibition. He thought I deserved a gift for making a 500 mile round trip. Those of you who know him will realise this is the typical thoughtful generosity that he displays.
At home I opened the envelope which contained a book with many images from the exhibition. The book is beautiful thing. Thank you David it is one of my most treasured possessions.

You should all do yourself a favour and PM David to purchase a copy of this mesmerising book.

I know Dave is OUR hero.   8)

But I'd love to hear the stories of his photography and exhibition in different versions!

Thank you, Bez, for the report, and, again, congrats, Dave!

This is one of those times when I wish that I still lived on the east side of the Atlantic and could get to Stirling to see David's  great photographs first hand!

You are all - especially Bez - far, far too kind - I'm embarrassed. I don't know what to say, but thank you all, especially Bez.

Just take it all in Dave :)

And yes I can confirm that Daves images look even better in print, was lucky enough to attend a few private exhibitions when visiting Killin.
Cheers,

A great homage for a great photographer !

Thanks Bez !

Really shame it is so far, I have rarely attended a photo-exhibition, and never one of a photographer I know. :'(

Congrats to Dave. ;)
