The backlight works wonderfully for the contour  which kindbof flash did you use for the foreground?

No flash involved. Taken advantage of the exposure latitude in the file - brightened up the dog.

Finally saw this a proper monitor...Wow...Fantastic and unique view.  The geometric lineup of the tops of thousands of people's heads is what makes me look again and again.  Funny: On my old laptop; the people at the bottom were invisible...just solid black.

I saw the image and thought that it's either bounce light from a nearby light-toned object,....OR it is a tasteful job of lifting the shadows.
