The venerable 105mm f/2.5 can, if pressed to the service, do close-ups. Erik's pass-through extension ring was used on this one taken with my trusty Df.

The AFS 105mm f/1.4E can do IR and false-colour EIR ('Aerochrome') simulation too. Captured with my broad-spectrum Nikon D600.

This is Maridalsvann north of Oslo, my neighbourhood and testing grounds before I moved out of the capital nearly a year ago. So you are correct.

Lots of nice images here. During my first ever stacked tracking session (on the handle of Big Dipper) with the 105mm f/2.5 AIS a ghost of a seemingly habitable planet from a far away galaxy showed up.



Even using flats could not get rid of the ghost, and stars unfortunately shows a considerable amount of purple fringing even at f/3.2, although there is nothing to complain about with respect to coma/astigmatism in the corners. So I will probably avoid this lens for this kind of deep space imaging where strong stretching is involved.

Perhaps the UV-nikkor 105 mm f/4.5 would be better for that purpose, Øivind?

UV-Nikkor 105 and Df.
