Having two bugs with PC-85

The older Micro Nikkor PC-85 f2,8 lens here with the D800e collecting 2 walking bugs . (handheld, 3 external flashes used, tilted and shifted.)

Great detail on the full size image. The lighting is very contrasty. Did you us the tilt and shift to increase or decrease the depth of field?

Right. Called the Scheimpflug principle, the tilt could have increased the DoF.

Hello Nikkor Shooter. It was very "tricky" to create any decent photo of those two walking bug's, those were always on the run. So i decided to have got a sharp area fixed with the eyes following the wandering friends in front. Than i tryed various combinations of tilting only, and together with shifting, propably it was all wrong, trial and error mode. There i have also had 2 flases installed. to have got some light on the foreground, and the "street" of the given bugs.  another shot from there. larger size 6mb.  http://malus.exotica.org.uk/~zeg/bugs/DSC7599bugs2013c99.JPG

Since the tilt will, you have the chance to limit their movements
and follow them in that "extended" area.  8)

Thats true! please have also in mind, there i have had the old PC-85 lens in use (still use it), after each orientation, where the bugs have gone too, i have had to open and close the aperture knob of that lens, together with d800e. bye bye. richard
