A Highland adventure with David Paterson
« on: November 06, 2018, 00:33:17 »
Last week I went to visit David, together we had a great time taking pictures.
Our main objective was to photograph Loch Coruisk in Skye.
To that purpose we took a boat across the bay from Elgol and spent the night at the Coruisk bothy, a very comfortable mountain hut.

David has utterly outclassed me for land photography, so I am starting attaching a pano taken with the drone.

A fantastic opener, and it is me who feels out-classed - by a machine  :-[  or at least by a machine plus very skilful operator  :)  I can see already I have to change my opinion of drones, and I am looking forward to more of these great panos from Cor 'uisge.

That's exactly what I have expected.  Please post more!

I'm quite impressed with what that thing delivers, and an excellent choice for a subject too!

Here's another one, from the morning after.

very good. flying a drone in the mountain is risky business. You might never get it back after a crash. Great results!

Thank you all for the comments.
It was a fantastic adventure and I have to thank David for it.

True, but worth the risk.
This is why I bought the drone; they have much better systems these days, so that crashes are much less likely.
Battery management is very accurate, and I only fly in environmentally safe conditions.
If the drone loses radio contact an automatic return to home function kicks in; I have seen it at work and after a moment of panic I was very relieved to see it is not just marketing. :)

Simone, Simone, Simone!
Breathtaking images!
You have mastered that drone of yours and it really works! Well done!

Since I missed David's post when I started this, I will keep posting here...
This is kind of an alternative take on the period covered by David in his first series.

1, 2 Beinn na Caillich
3 David shooting rainbows
4 Another view of the rainbow
5 The last house of Elgol
6 Sea turds (grey seals)
7 Our boat leaves
8 The surroundings of the bothy
9 When David saw this he said that he was bored of rainbows
10 Wet gabbro plates, the main ridge behind

Impressive, I liked them all. Your compositions are really good.
