The river looked a lot less angry when I was there. I remember sitting on a rock in the middle of the river. listening to a lone piper standing on another rock in front of me. It was pretty surreal and a memory I will never forget.

That must have been some rainy days  :-)
#1 and #2 are fascinating captures - the shutter speed captured movement as well as detail(?) without going soft .. or is it simply due to the amount of action in the water ..

#3 - a beautiful landscape and interesting how nature changed the (normally dry) scenery. Not a place to put a tent on rainy days like this.

Thanks for the memory! Thanks also to Mike, Bent, Akira, Jon, Chris, Desaparecida (I was wondering where you had got to), Birna and Lars. Nothing pleases me more than getting favourable comments from my fellow-photographers.   

Lars - successful shutter speeds were 1/3 to 1/6 second and an amazing amount of detail was preserved - I was both surprised and delighted. Of course the speed of the water was also a big factor in how the shots turned out - it was very fast.

You were unwell, I remember, and missed half of the week, which was without a single drop of rain. I admit, that is not a common experience in Scotland; but it isn't all that rare either.  I can only recommend a return visit.

David, Are you saying this is not normal  ...I thought you must just sit on a rock in the river and the ginger piper appears? kind of like the Irish leprechaun.
