Perhaps I might turn that around and be delighted that so many people are admiring your photographs and can see nothing to criticise?

You are obviously very competent and accomplished.  I could find nothing to say but superlatives, Birna expressly asks that comments in the critique section which just express admiration are not welcome.

Post some crappy stuff and I suspect you will get more response.

Get used to it, photography is a selfserving affair

for instance my flickr page gets very little views, of course if you want spend
lots of time into networking some results will show.

You really do not expect factual critiques for two reasons:

1- The sheep herd spirit. whereby the sheep follow the herder.
2- The delusional sheep

Have you ever read a post here that offers a modicum of critiques without being accused of being either judgemental or an ad hominem attacker.

You have sub standard pictures being posted which are extolled and rare but good pictures which are ignored.

1- Very few here speak proper English let alone understand it.

Sorry, Ethan, but that is not true. As a New Zealander I speak British English, and I have seen often that some of the best postings on this site, in terms of communication, come from people for whom English is a second language. Spelling and punctuation may not always be orthodox, but that is a separate issue.

It seems you have already made up your mind about what is wrong with your photo so what is there to add?

The most simple critique for these images is use a shorter lens. After that there is nothing to say. And you already know that fact. It is the in the title of the post.

If you want critique be sincere about it. Don't just use the critique category to post photos.

My reason for not commenting or reading your posts is mainly I'm not interested in birds. Sorry for that.

Don't be sorry, me neither… as I am not a birder but an image hunter.
I shoot birds because some bird shots were used by some publishers
and they wanted more.

Two kilometres from my studio, there is a cool marsh where I use to go
to relax having a walk and enjoying the sight of the so many resident
birds without even thinking of shooting them then. I got to shoot them
and learn about them because of the publishers request. I was not real-
ly interested in birds but I am always interested by the light falling on'm!

Perhaps I'm a bit overwhelmed by the amount of the threads you have started most recently.

In general, I'm impressed by your (and other refular posters') bird images which are totally impossible for me having no comparable technique, equipments or patience to wait for the critical moment in the field.

The technique comes eventually with the gear you have to justify the purchase of.

As for the patience, I don't have much of that either… so I follow several potential
situations at the same time, trying to be ready for anything at anytime.

Anyone in an operation must justify all purchases to
oneself, the accountant, and the partners eventually,
healthier business practice.

"Practice, practice, practice" is a thought I dislike so
much… it only makes one repeat the same mistakes
over and over again. I'll much prefer the "recognise,
understand, and execute" approach to learning… with
all my students.

You might consider posting under your real name, personally I tend to ignore anonymous members and I know many others do as well.

NG is a relatively small community where we value sharing knowledge with an open mind and prefer to communicate on a personal level as we enjoy each others company online and in real life during the many meetups, safaris, workshops, road trips, etc we had in the last decade or so.

On a personal note: one can only be a good teacher by being a good student, you claim to teach others about photography but seem very closed to critique from others.

More on topic, flooding the forum with mainly birds images we've seen many times before usually doesn't trigger a response because there's little to gain for all parties involved. Showing images we haven't seen before are usually the more interesting ones to respond to as are open questions of what to do when facing new challenges when learning about new techniques, gear, locations, etc.

So please be welcome to NG, unburden yourself of the creative limitations set by your clientele and open your mind to learn
