Waiter, there is a giraffe eating my breakfast

Well, not quite. She is eating her breakfast in the restaurant - cereal pellets with molasses.

Taken last week at Giraffe Manor sanctuary, just outside Nairobi.

What an exotic creature. It is astonishing to me how large their heads are when compared to our own. Thanks for posting.

Thanks all for your comments. It was quite an experience - they were gentle creatures, but no doubt they could do a bit of damage if they decided to headbutt you. The giraffes were hand fed by guests twice a day - they arrived at 5.30 each morning looking for handouts. The pellets were quite small, and the giraffes stored them in their cheeks until it was worthwhile chewing and swallowing. When they swallowed, it sounded like a long drainpipe being flushed.

Hopefully she was satisfied, Akira. Their appetites were insatiable - they loved their grain and molasses pellets!
