Quick trip to Isle of Skye, Scotland
« on: August 19, 2018, 10:05:22 »
Have been planning a trip with Christopher my youngest son during his school holidays, we managed to get away on Friday.

My main objective was to visit the Old Man of Store, The Quiraing and the Fairy Pools in Glen Brittle.

We went up to the Quiraing last night to make some star trails but it was too cloudy, we had been up during the day and found a good location.  I tried to take a series just to see what would happen but the D3 refused to make interval timing available.  It was very frustrating quite high up in the wilds being attacked by midges and the camera refuses to do intervalometer.  I checked everything but couldn't find a cause so we had no alternative but to come down.  I even did a two button reset, swapped batteries etc.

When we finally got back to the car I had a thought that it might be time related, I checked the date setting and found it had reverted to the  factory original date. I set current time-date and intervalometer functions were restored.

Back to campsite at 3 am.

EDIT: the image opened perfectly in PS, just wrote back to disk and uploaded the file again. No more upside-down display

Robert, the image is upside down.  What happened?

Was photo from my iPad posted on the iPad.

Is right way up on my iPhone.

Can’t get to a computer for days. Be OK for Southern Hemisphere!  😂

Off to the Faiy Pools...

On my iPhone, the image is displayed correctly, but downloaded from bottom to top.    :o :o :o

Hope you enjoy your trip anyway!

I corrected the image rotation. Must be the phone/iPad that sets the wrong indicator for the file header?

When the iOS devices can't determine whats up or down they fall back to the default orientation which on the iPhone is with the volume / shutter buttons in the bottom left corner which is the opposite of most cameras out there  ::)
