Last week my good friend Pieter died (only 52 years old) he had a very rare disease - Kufs disease affecting his eye sight and neurosystem. Today was the funeral. The family asked me to supply the photo used at the ceremony. It was a portrait in 2014, I made some small corrections but not many.

Express my sympathy on your loss, John!

My condolence, John.  Poignant portrait.

That touches me even more than it would touch me if it was just your friend, Anthony! I am 52, my mother died of a rare desease, my wife's colleague husband is currently dying of a rare desease and the next diagnostic step in my marathon diagnistics is to check for rare deseases and we are afraid...

My deepest condolences!

Yesterday I fought a lost battle against bloodthirsty horseflies and the sinking into sticky ooze and mud on an inland lake. All these while I tried to take shots of our eastern "invader", Sparganium gramineum Gorski. Eventually, I got my shots and even found time to make a little abstract study on the rippled reflections of a Sparganium inflorescence. The horseflies provided about 50+ bites and scratches and the mud swallowed my Crocs. All in all, a successful day in the field as I could cross off another species on my to-do list, and my D500 proved it had been wakened up from its zombie state of the last field trip.
