Fifty years ago Kubricks masterpiece '2001 A Space Odyssey' was released.

Because of this occasion there was a new Cinema release with a digital restored copy of the movie.

A 'shaken' ;)  scene of part II, close to the moon base Clavius

John: I saw this film so many times and it did not get worse. Only slower compared to modern movies...

Today I participated in the operation of a Time Control Point on a speed stage of the National Rally Championship. Quite interesting experience, but the exceptional (by our standards) hot weather (32 C, no wind) was a mixed blessing. Fortunately my new summer dress allowed for some much need air conditioning :D I had hoped to get some action shots, but the timekeeping chores tied me down effectively. Oh well, there will be other opportunities.

Chris Nolan, who spearheaded this restoration, calls it 'unrestored' because [he claims] they didn't use digital techniques, only film lab techniques to make the new prints.

Thanks for the addition Keith. 

According to the titles : "That means the movie will be presented in a way that’s as close to Kubrick’s original vision as possible."  It was a great screening. !
