The rural petrol station has been renovated!
« on: July 12, 2015, 23:00:00 »
Not long ago I posted this photo of a rural petrol station:
http://nikongear.net/revival/index.php?topic=482.msg3602#msg3602

I just came back from a trip to Lofoten, and it turns out they have renovated the station. New fuel pumps, the lamp post is painted, and they have turned off the light :)

I tend to return to places and locations again and again, sometimes things have changed, or I see different things, or in a different way.

Did you use the pumps?

No, but I see no reason why they should not work.

Thanks for the update Bjørn.

Nice. What if you had a Tesla?

After USA, I believe Norway is the country with the most Tesla's. I wish I had one.

The Tesla Model S is the only EV worth considering currently, IMHO.

Good to see maintanance...but they could have levelled the pumps 😀
Teslas: Gary, Norway has cheap electricity and charging should not present any problems. We are almost drowning in them here in Stavanger. Nice cars, but too big for city use (which  is the faith to most of them)

Gary: Teslas and other electric cars sell like hotcakes here in Noway. Governmental regulations are at present aimed towards increasing the fraction of such cars by providing tax incentives and other benefits (lower road tax, no toll fees, free transport on ferries, sharing of privileged lanes otherwise dedicated to bus and taxi traffic on the highways into the major cities to help them overcome rush hour traffic, deployment of gratis charge stations in the cities and urban areas ). It is very obvious that this state-initiated policy is efficient and now more than 20% of new cars are electric.

As Sten stated, electricity is cheap in Norway. Charging your electric car at a free power outlet is even cheaper.

Here in Denmark, EV's are currently not taxed but you still pay VAT, but the current agreement ends this year. If nothing is done, then EV's will be taxed with what I believe is more or less the worlds highest car tax: 180%

The previous government (which rules for 4 years) had a reform of the rules in their government program. The only thing they managed was promising right before the election that they would extend the current rules for 1 year, but they didn't win the election. The current government don't think this climate issue is such a big deal and wants to lover our goals to please businesses. Something will happen in regards to our current car taxes but I'm not too optimistic.

180% tax on cars sounds fairly normal to my Norwegian ears :D And of course VAT is the backbone of the welfare economy of most developed European countries so we shouldn't want to drop that.

Your description of Danish politics could apply to a number of other countries as well.

At this stage in the thread, it is preferable to return to the topic at hand. Bjørn J, was this taken somewhere along the northern parts of Gimsøya? I might have misinterpreted the geography.
