help with Nikon F5 repair.

Hello, everybody!

I got a junk Nikon F5 for a decent price

I have 2 problems but I will start with the 1st one.

When I view the DP-30 finder, the AF point doesn't highlight. My question is, is the LCD for the AF point situated on the body OR the finder? Thanks, hoping to find the answer to this.

If my memory servers me the AF focus indicators are RGR and in the body. There are three five AF areas indicated on the Focus screen. I don't think all screens will show which focus point is selected. My guess is only three can do this. Photography in Malaysia will have the correct information...

The focussing indicators are located inside the EC-B focus screen, this screen has electrical contacts at the left side for that.

I am using an EC-B screen with the contacts.

nothing highlights.

OK, I was hoping that the projection is in the DP-30. having that thing in the body makes it much more complicated. I may need replacement parts for this

The yellow lit arrows above and to the right (when looking through the finder) indicating the selected focus point are indeed located in the body, as has been verified by removing both viewfinder and focusing screen.

In my F5, switching between the five different focus areas by operating the cursor pad has become visually slow, and the selected area bracket isn't that distinctive from the others anymore.

the brackets don't unfortunately 

I hope Nikon still has some parts. I will find out soon and ope that the nice guy is still there because the others won't sell the parts to me
