Ten years

Same valley, Grimsdalen, in central, inland Norway, taken 10 years apart. Same time of the year as well.

It seems to have suffered a radioactive attack, which made it more beautiful.
Is it IR photography?

Amazing scenery.

I wonder about the land form of the area at the bottom of the valley that looks like a skull or a light bulb.

Norway has gone poly-colour.

The valley is carved by the last Ice Age glaciers. The structure you refer to is probably a local moraine or esker.

Yes, this is IR.

Apart form the colours it seem that it is unchanged.

Soil formation is this quite infertile region can be extremely slow and in some locations not more than 2 cm for the last 10 000 years. Thus, vegetational development and changes are slow as well.

Beautiful  comparison.  Very detailed.

One should expect some tree growth, or is that very slow as well?

This valley is situated at an altitude not conducive to tree growth. There are scattered thickets of willows and contorted mountain birch, but no real trees.
