thanks for your interesting replies.
After thinking the whole weekend I got today a D810, shuttercound 2600, 3 years Nikon warranty.
Together with the MB-D12 I get also a fast DX cam with good AF coverage.
And 36 MP FX and the Nikon pro body quality. Ideal for my portraits and landscapes.

If I need small I take my Nikon 1 with 20 MP 1” sensor, really small and astonishing good for the size.
Due to DXOMARK as good as a D200.

D750 doesn't save the uncompressed RAW either.  Do you find any noticeable difference between the uncompressed and the losslessly compressed?

Am I missing something? Isn't lossless really lossless as when expanded there is no difference, no loss. Now as I understand it compressed NEF are not compressed equally so that noise in the highlights gets compressed so there is little loss of image forming data but there is some.

So lossless means no loss while compressed mean some loss but not much. I'm not sure I understand the advantage of uncompressed. I would think it uses more memory without any gain in image quality.

The D810 is quiet and I don't have any problems with Large basic JPEG being to large ......
When I BOUGHT THE d800 I thought it was the worst camera I ever bought . Noisy and terrible memories . I still have it and two D810s which I love for the quiet life but the memories are junk.

I had my D800 for 3 years and never really liked it (mainly due to the AF issues).
Sold it to buy a D750 and never looked back.
I certainly had some reservations wrt build and control layout before I bought the D750.
But I'm very happy and will likely upgrade to a D750 successor should it materialise.

Good decision price / performance relation. I skipped D800/800e/810/750 and stayed with the D600/D3 until I replaced them with D500/D850 which is perfect for my needs.
