Ah, quite melancholic indeed..! I agree, the weather is wet and dark. But it seems you did manage to nail those moody pictures  :)

Rain or Shine, the Weather is fine! ... The Beatles

We had it dry for 20 years after two consecutive big floods in 1993 Christmas and 1995 New Year. Now we had weeks of rain plus snow melting in Southern Germany and Austria and all that adds up to a 9 Meter wave only ... Hopefully ... The big ones were 11 meters with some serious damage ... But they did heighten the Rhine dykes since that time.

PS: 11 meters is the tree tops of the red leafed trees behind the boat.... Current must be somewhat between 7.50 and 8.00

Indeed melancholy is the word for the series.  But good to know you are even enjoying the emotion.

I realize that there are floods caused by heavy rain in some parts of Germany.  Hope you guys (and the kids on the bicycle) to stay safe.

Frank, You have sequenced these well to tell both the inner- and the outer story, and they'd would make a good slideshow maybe w/music added.

Keith: it is one of my goals to share more emotion in my shots, normally I am shy, do not dare, am too rational ...

I realize that there are floods caused by heavy rain in some parts of Germany.  Hope you guys (and the kids on the bicycle) to stay safe.

My grandparents had a house that got flooded regularly. Knowing that, the Grand Grandparents had build the house on a hill, only the cellars, stable and main Kitchen were drowned. Next village could be accessed by boat for shopping. The height of the lower floor was next to five meters, so the chance for water to actually enter the hall, salon, dining room, bath or sleeping rooms and study were low
