Forefeel of a hot day
« on: October 10, 2017, 23:39:35 »
Shot this early morning.  It has well been into the autumn, but the rising sun was so orange that it will be quite hot today.

As the dynamic range of GH5 is nowhere near that of D750, the metering and the processing was more tricky, but the "Cinelike D" profile with the contrast, sharpening and noise reduction set to the minimum (-5) as well as the very dependable IBIS helped me a lot to hand-hold this 400mm equivalent lens (Ai Nikkor 200/4.0).

I like the feel of these, especially #2, mostly because the foreground objects are more clearly defined.

Jakov, today it was not only hot but unusually humid for this time of the year in Tokyo.  So, the sunshine was pretty much damped by the foggy atmosphere.

Dave, thanks for the comment.  I should have shot the sun just several minutes earlier when the sun had yet been low enough for me to include more of the foreground in the first image.  Or I would have liked a 200-300mm equivalent lens.

I shot the first image from the 6th floor and the second image from the 3rd floor in order to include more antennas as the foreground.

Very atmospheric - summer is finding it difficult to depart.

Akira, you must have been up and about way before me.  I did not see the sun at all today - just a murky, heavy haze of humidity that is still hanging about here at 8.25pm.

Mike, indeed it has been very hazy and cloudy in Tokyo right after the sunrise I had managed to capture.  The residual haze is captured even in your crispy nightscape.

Tomorrow I will visit Honmonji shrine for "Oeshiki".  I remember I wore the T-shirt and heavily sweated when I visited Oeshiki some years ago!

FWIW, this is the thread for Oeshiki I post last year:
