Are you sure the HK-8 fits?, the  HK-11 is for a lens with a 52mm thread but it definitely wont fit it as its about 60mm wide, and design to fit on the focus barrel.

I just looked at a photo of the 36-72/3.5 Series-E at Roland's site and there is no room for the hood at the filter threads with the lens zoomed to 36mm so the hood probably goes over the zoom/focus ring and does not fit on the 52mm attachment threads. I don't know where one might find out or see a photo of the hood.

I'm sorry, I was probably wrong about the HK-8 as a replacement.

Dave

[I've seen a photo of the HK-8 hood by itself. I am quite sure it doesn't fit a 52mm lens or filter but rather slips over the zoom/focus ring of the 36-72/3.5E. I haven't seen both the lens and hood together in one photo.]

The HK-8 hood for the 36-72 fits over the zoom/focus ring, so it will only fit on lenses where the upper barrel diameter is 67mm (which is the diameter of the 36-72)

HK (slip-on) hoods generally only fit the lenses they are designed for. If you are lucky you might find another lens that fits if they have the same diameter and the hood depth is compatible with the focal length, but that seems unlikely for 35mm and 50mm lenses.

For the AIS 35/1.4, I agree with the others, the HN-3 is the best option.

In the end I got HN-1, and a 72mm cap.

So I now use HN-1 on my 35mm and I put the HN-3 on the 50mm.

The hoods provides some shade, keeps grubbing fingers away, provides protection from bangs, but keeps a 'low profile'.
