Jumble sales, this Sunday
« on: September 03, 2017, 23:19:13 »
An old tradition in Lille - jumble sales on the 1st weekend of Septembre. Up to one million visitors, many of them from Belgium, the Netherlands or UK.
The event was canceled last year due to security concerns, but re-instated this year, with serious but not too obtrusive security measures (essentially, no powered vehicles were admitted in the zone that was delimited by concrete blocks : the Lego of our distracted times).

Mussels are the main dish served to participants, and the empty shells are traditionally heaped as illustrated here.
Df, 105/2.5 AI at 5.6 and 2.5, respectively. Significant PP on the first one, only some vignetting added to the 2nd one.

Both are evocative images.  Apparently an angel took off from the LEGO?

Hope you didn't become an empty shell after all the fest and the feast...

No trouble Akira - Df, Madame & myself came safely home. We just had a few fries (once a year, and this is when we most enjoy them).
And yes, angels are not only available in Berlin.

Hi Airy,
I enjoy the second image very much, it conveys the 'after the party' feeling quite well. Maybe a smoother transition in the vignetting would be beneficial?

Right, it was overcooked. Here's a better version. That would arguably have been a case for a 105/1.4 ;)
