This thing is SO COOL!
Nikon 8mm f/2.8 AI. The AI was made from 1977-1982.
Shot using D810.
First trial shots.

Yes, the mighty 8/2.8 still delivers. I have a very early non-AI myself and it is now AI-modified using the factory kit, plus CPU-modified.

Just don't drop it as the metal of the lens casing although very hard is prone to being deformed along the front perimeter and is well-nigh impossible to bring back to shape later.

Another points are the ease with which you capture your own feet and the observation that depth of field, albeit large, is not infinite if the lens is focused close.

The Nikon 8mm f/2.8 AI Fisheye lens has a built in rear filter carousel containing 5 filters.
L1A - Clear Skylight
Y48 - Medium Yellow
Y42 - Deep Yellow
O56 - Orange
R60 - Red

These tests were shot using a D7200 UVIR conversion. The D7200 is a DX model, so the full circle of this fisheye is cropped by the DX sensor.
These shots are white balanced from RAW in NX-D.

It is a part of a "painting" on a school-yard wall using the lens quite near the wall on a tripod. It seems like a shark's mouth... By the way the image is taken with the D3.

The blowout on the far left is very distracting, IMO. YMMV

Thanks, CS. The wall is straight, it doesn't bend, and the lens takes 180 degrees. Then I had to decide between left and right.
