Hong Kong Df with 50mm 1.8G

Am in a bit of a rut photo-wise - so busy at work, same work routine, dark when I leave for work and dark when I get home

10 day holiday in HKG and used Df with 50mm 1.8G only. It's a pretty good lens! Hong Kong the clearest I can remember, air fresh, skies really blue although we were caught in a massive storm at Disney

You demonstrate the versatile performance of this humble little standard gem really nicely.  Although 50/1.8G is not the lens of choice for its "character", I found it the best standard Nikkor ever made as all-rounder in the true sense of the word.

Very nice, JJ. Several years ago I mounted my 50mm 1.8 D on my D200 for awhile. It never disappointed me, although I know that I disappointed it at times. 

Out in my front yard is this Bougainvillea that I used as a subject for different lenses. This is a reslut from that  50mm 1.8.

Carl. I've got an original non-D 50mm1.8 though sharp has a lop sided aperture opening hence has odd bokeh. I've tried to love it because it is so small. My G version is another kettle of fish - a little bit more distortion but does render in quite a different way - less harsh or etched.

Andrew - thanks for the comment. Hans - I think that the manufacturing has moved on from southern China to cheaper areas hence less pollution (Vietnam, Bangledesh). But the Chinese are also starting to take greening seriously. They have the smarts, the people power, the technology - they are becoming a real super power.

Akira - the G can render B+W quite nicely which I think indicates nice even micro and macro contrast - really an understated and often maligned lens don't you think?.

JJ, nice Images,  I really like the lady looking at you (#3) and the final rain image.  I rarely use the 50 1.8G.  Normally have the 58 1.4G on the Df, Pany 25 1.4 on the Pen F or one of the 50's on a Sony (Loxia and VM 50 1.5) are current favs.  I used 50ish mm more than usual on my 4 days in Varanasi.

JJ, I posted a few here  but mostly on Nikonians and Dpr galleries..  I was really happy with the Summarit M 75 f2.5 on the trip. I only took the DC105 f2D and 58 for the Df.  It was 45 C the entire 4 days so actually shot more from distance than up close. ..less walking 😊

JJ, thanks for the advice on B&W with 50/1.8G.  It's just an added proof of the versatility of the lens!
