Nice pano, Ron.

I especially like the fact that you captured the diffraction of the wave coming from outside of the bay.

Part of it is that coastal bluff and dune vegetation gets wind and salt spray so it's particularly subject to dehydration. That results in similar protective adaptations and appearances in many cases even for plants that aren't related.  Not everywhere, but in a lot of places even when the climate is ostensibly different.
