Both are fun poses, with lots of detail ,  challenging light conditions (level) but nice high ISO performance.

Curious what post work was needed for noise control, if any?

none.. in fact, i sharpened it somewhat which brought the noise up.

thx!.. turns out this is a very common migratory bird here.. i guess i was out of luck for something interesting yesterday species-wise, so i had to make do..

The second photo is lovely because of the behavior and the ruffled chest feathers.
