A short trip up the Bosphorus
« on: June 15, 2017, 04:15:23 »
One of my fondest memories of Istanbul was of an afternoon I took a boat trip up the Bosphorus.

At the dock, we cast off:

Leaving the city behind:

As always, tea is served:

Past ancient fortifications:

And riverside homes:

And finally a return to Istanbul's Galata Bridge in the afternoon

It would be nice to travel there again, but it is nearly 30 years in the past and no boats are going that direction:

Images taken on Kodachrome in a Nikon FG with 50mm f/1.8. Revived with Nikon Df, PS4 slide copier and a 1960's 55mm Micro Nikkor. Yes I know there is dirt all over them...

These are great Jack.  Must be a kind of time-travel while 'reviving'.

I like especially - leaving the city behind  and the Galata bridge.

Yes, the past is a different country.

Nostalgia tints the sky and water blue and gold.

Do you know about the Museum of Innocence in Istanbul?  (http://en.masumiyetmuzesi.org/)  It is the real-life version of the fictional museum from Orhan Pamuk's great novel about Istanbul, The Museum of Innocence; you have created a virtual museum of innocence.

No, I was unaware of it, but I'm quite interested now that you have introduced me to it.  Thank you.
