Valle del Jerte, Cáceres, Spain
« on: April 13, 2017, 22:50:03 »
Hello,

I jut came back from a 3 day trip to this fantastic location. Full of active tourism, hiking, bicycle, mountains, natural pools, etc...

Because I´m extra busy for the foreseeable future I can´t promise, but will try to process and post some images here.

They were all in capture in infrared wavelength with various levels of success. Take this as an immersion in this kind of vision. I´m personally amazed by the results but I´m bias :)
   I hope you enjoy

The second last one is the best to me so far.  Take your time and post more!

It seems you had a good trip.
Did you mainly shoot IR?
We've just returned from 10 days Northern part of Extremadura for some birding and sightseeing and visited Cáceres as well. :)
Beautiful area, nice historic/old cities and good food and drinks for not so much money. :D

Day 2: water in the image. After visiting the city of "Plasencia" we were back on the road and into the trails. A pano to try to show the view from the top

Chris, I did shot almost only in IR. I need my time to get use to new ideas and I could feel the difference in pre-viewing  from day one. Focus and exposition too...

I´m happy you enjoyed Cáceres. It is a peculiar side of Spain, not as well known as others. I´m living right now some 2-3 hours drive from there. I agree food is not bad at all :)

Interesting series and you have got off to an excellent start in your IR work for sure. You have a good eye for details large and small. Also this seems a very agreeable part of your country too - something for a future NG meet-up?

However, I'm not a great fan of the dirty-brown appearance and would rather see you explore alternative avenues of processing. Or try out b/w conversions?

Thank you Bjørn,

to say it is encouraging will be an understatement.
Thsi country changes a lot in a couple of hours drive. Taking Seville as a center, you are some 2-3 hours from the atlantic ocean and the beaches of Cádiz, Tarifa, de dunes, windmills and no much longer to north Africa; same  2 hours to the natural reserve of "los alcornocales", 90 minutes to Córdoba, 3 hours to Málaga . Seville is not bad either... This actual place, Valle del Jerte, has many rural accommodations and is relatively calm and not so expensive in off-season. Has a lot of cherry trees that give blossoms and flowers every year. Any of those, I think, will provide a great place for a NG meeting.

I´m afraid the browninsh is about the only option I have managed so far. Other options will work here and there but it takes me a very, very long time to process single images. Black and white is generally better but I feel I lose some of the magic I just found on IR and I´m not ready to give it up yet :) I will have for sure to come back to this files later on, with more experience and skill. It will not be the first time I do something like that.

still day 3: visiting a nearbay village for an appointment with a dentist -a tooth broke- we took some time at the river. On top of a trip with my girlfriend who is a favorite subject -you know her from many "flamenco" images- I keep the work in progress of getting to know the camera, the ir world and how it changes everthing. Enjoying vacation was a strong point too  ;D

Day 4 and last: again, a split. I was more comfortable with the outcome. There happend to be a fire with some planes and helicopters trying to put it out. I only had the 24-70mm with me and was far away but still.

Day 4 included a trip to a waterfall in the morning and a return to the "pilones" in the evening and so images will be separated. First "Caozo" waterfall´s trail. Do note that I´m happy with ghost in my images and different opinions are valid and welcome.

A special mention to the ir spider and water background.
