And on my wishlist some PC/PCE Nikkors, 2/200 and fisheye 3,5/16 to complete the list !

The list is never complete!

Dave

The secret agenda here is to counter the frequent threads were people express anguish because they own too many lenses.

Fear not. They are so similar anyone starting to count them will lose track :D

I gave up counting many years ago. Then, I counted how many were CPU-modified. Now even that is beyond my reach. Oh well. Could of course estimate from a time-acquisition number plot if such existed, but really who cares? As long as I find the lens to use for a given task, I'm just fine. If not that specific lens, well, then another will do. As long as it has a suitable F-mount on it.

Kit building is forever. :)

8 AF-S lenses
4 AI-S lenses
14 Multi coated Pre-AI lenses
16 Nippon Kogaku lenses in mm's
7 Nippon Kogaku lenses in cm's
So that makes 49

If somebody is looking for Nippon Kogaku lenses (in mm's); I have a few for sale. :)

Paring down? I just finished with that process.

Lenses I still own:

16mm f3,5 (on some wish lists as I read)
20mm f3,5 UD Nikkor (if not on someones wishlist, it should be added)
50mm f1,4 Nikkor-S
55mm f1,2 Nikkor-S.C
55mm f3,5 Ai Micro Nikkor
105mm f2,5 Nikkor-P
135mm f2,8 Nikkor-Q.C
200mm f4 Nikkor-Q.C
300mm f2,8 *ED Ai-S

80-200 f4 Ai-S Zoom Nikkor

AF 85mm f1,4D
AF 80-200 f2,8D

All I have on my wishlist now, are duplicates of the lenses I already own, and an 85mm f1,8 Nikkor-H, as well as an 85mm f2,8D PC Nikkor :D

Fons, I just picked up that 300 f2,8 two weeks ago, and am still trying to find out how to make the best use of the lens.

Yes, I certainly like it a lot. It's almost permanently attached to my camera. It has excellent sharpness and really seperates a subject from any background. There are a few drawbacks, but I think this will be a lens that I will happily use as much as my 55mm f1,2 or 105mm f2,5.

I must admit that, until recently, the lens was on my wish list, and ever has been since around 1996 (when they were still sold new), but I never imagined buying one. Just recently I had been stashing some money with the thought of buying a smaller and lighter camera to carry around. With that money on my bank account, I encountered a real good deal on a 300 f2,8 Ai-S which looked to be in good shape, so I realized that dream, and have not regretted it since.

Smaller and lighter is over-rated. You have spent your money wisely.

I should have bought a 300/2.8 ED-IF AI when I bought my 300/4.5 ED-IF AI.

"60/4 Coastal Optics Ummm is it UV-IR-VIS-Apo-Macro?"

Yes. Says so on the lens barrel ....

"Mitutoyo Objectives 5x-50x"

I have the 10x/0.28 Plan Apo. It is very good (as expected), but you do have to protect it from light sources causing flare. A few black flags in the studio setup helps enormously.  I might look into getting the 5X sibling as well, but as of now I make do with my Macro-Nikkors and the Olympus 38/2.8.

For my current project, I had an immediate need of a second hi-res camera so availed myself of a nice offer of a brand new D810 at the normal asking price for second-hand cameras. The 850 is still on the horizon as far as I'm concerned,  but we'll see what next year brings.

I sold quite a few lenses about 6 years ago. Maybe it is time to do so again. Any advice as to what should go?
