Surreal, dramatic, fantastic, other-worldly - it's all that, but I just can't connect with the scale of this. There looks like a road running across the left mid-distance, but if that's highway then the scale is vast and those distant blue-black cliffs are absolutely enormous. I find it very hard to read.

This is a single D800 NEF.  The thin line is a trail, not a road.  The crater is several miles across.  People would appear as specs.  One might want to refer to earlier posted shots.  Some were stitched panos and also taken from a different vantage point.
