RE: Long landscape lens for D800/810

I am looking for a longer landscape lens and have read about the 400/5.6 ED-IF and ED versions. After reading both here
at Nikongear and at Björns "old" site I wonder if the ED version still will hold up for the D800/810 resolution?

The Sigma 150 - 600mm sport has recently been identified as having a overall sharpness, when shot at f8 that will be a very close match in IQ to the latest Nikon 500mm f4 model.
Unbelievable I know, but I feel the reporter has wrote their findings correctly.

I should have said, the comparison applies only on Long Range Subjects.
Apologies for the misleading info.

The 400/5.6 ED-IF is very good, but the non-IF version is a bit better (at the expense of weight/size) if you can find one.
I had the 400/5.6 ED-IF AIS for quite some time, then found a non-IF version.
I now own two 400/5.6 ED AI copies . . .  :)
