A flower on the water or two
« on: February 13, 2017, 09:10:05 »
never seen these in person before. I thought it's too beautiful not to shoot

Our dams are running dry - this is the main water source for Cape Town and unbelievably low. Keep in mind the last 10% can not be utilized - I think the last count was around 30% remaining.

First is a Victoria species (Water Lily Family), the second Nelumbo (nucifer?) (Sacred Lotus Family), and the third, the panorama, is a severe lack of water.

One can only hope for some refreshing rain.

Thank you Bjôrn.

Fortunately we are in a winter rain region. Now for winter to come...
South Africa (and I believe many other regions in the world) has experienced severe droughts in the past couple of years - not unique - sadly

The pod in the second pic is making my eyes go funny...if I focus on the pod head, then look at the oozy bokeh, the holes in the pod will briefly appear in the bokeh, then disappear.  Neat!
Wonder what this does?

Thank you Armando. There was light rain in the morning for an hour or two - but not here - and it was so little we walked in it without getting wet.

So sweet! Yes second is the on I like as well,

No wonder there is no water left - It's all flowing down and out to the right ::)
