Always nice to see a camera well used, and from personal experience, the Nikon F2 Titan really is robust and can take impacts in its stride that would have shattered lesser models. The camera has been field-proven to break ribs .... My ribs.

I thought the earlier Titans to carry a corresponding 'Titan' engraving front left? My F2 Titan is the 92-series that reportedly did not have the label.

If I remember correctly, the Uemura model was the first F2 with the titanium cover.  The earlier "production" F2T was only for the press photographers and thus had no fancy "Titan" engraving.  The later models were sold publicly and had the engraving.

If so, the numbering scheme was unlogical. The 78-series is claimed to have the nice curlicue inscription on front, the 92-series didn't. Perhaps the serial number shown here belongs to an earlier series as it might coincide with the F2H?

I guess that the 92-series were reserved for the special use.  There have been similar cases, if I remember correctly.

According to an online source, F2 titan both with and without "Titan" engraving ended up being made about 5000 respectively.

The 92-series carries the serial number like "F2 92XXXXX" whereas 72-series like "F2T 77XXXXX".

According to the same source:

The film doors of the earliest titanium F2s was made of steel because at first it was difficult to press the titanium plate to the shape of the film door.  About 100 77-series (more specifically 773- and 774-) and 300 92-series F2 titans with the steel film doors were made.
