I got lucky , found a  whale jumping multiple times, the jump by the little boat was quite a close call !

Impressive stuff
And it appears on the last pic as if the boat is taking a serious amount of water
wonder how this ended

Impressive animal Armando! They are really defying gravity. Makes you wonder what kind of thrust they have to make that jump? I wouldn't get caught under that mass when they make the splash :) Where did you capture the creature?

great shots and timing Armando.
Mongo experienced this a few years ago in one of the bays in Canada so he knows what a thrill you must have had. BTW - Mongo loves your new pet.

This was on the pacific ocean out of the coast of Mexico, between the port of San Blas and Isla Isabel, about half way coming back from the island
It was my 6th time doing this trip, we camp at the island, the boat owners bring food and a cook, so it is a great time
As I said, I had seen the whales jump in the distance but never this close, so these are shots I've wanted to get for some time now.  ;D
Night sky this time around was cloud free, moon free, and since it is 40km from the coast in a straight line east, and there are no big towns on the coast, it is free of light pollution - therefore the nice sky shots I was able to get - this time the weather was very windy , surf was up , and it was impossible to snorkel, last year was very calm and clear.

The boat seem under due to a wave in between both boats, and while they did take some water from the splash it was nothing major.

Thanks for pointing out the spots , it is probably a water droplet on my lens, I'm planning on doing some prints and will make sure to clean this.

Here are a couple of screen capture of google maps showing the location 1) showing where in Mexico 2) boat route

Thanks for all the comments

Mongo, The whale is up for adoption if you're interested  8)

Amazing, especially the last two!

The first two are equally amazing, but, with the last two, I can share the excitement and a bit of fearfulness with the people on that "tiny" boat.

Armando, right place, right time... well done capturing the moments  :) .  I like the guy shooting the Canon (?),one handed, while clinging to the sun shade.  I'll check out the vid when my wife returns and signs on to Facebook.

I love it. Your photos show the grandness of these mammals. Wonderful!
It must have so special.

Your photos also remind me of a vacation where I took camera and telelens on a whale spotting boat trip in Canada. There was basically nothing spectacular to see. But when we arrived in an area where a humpback was spotted, I had to pay attention to my wife who was really sick. So when I turned around to help her, on the other side a humpback jumped out of the water offering a spectacular view. He/she did so only once. A moment that I never captured. But my wife was happy that I supported her.

Having said that, I am sure my photos would never have been so beautiful and spectacular as yours. #3 is my favourite as it gives context.
