CV 125/2.5 Optimum Macro Ratio
« on: December 11, 2016, 17:24:14 »
I have recently acquired a nice sample of the CV 125 Nikon mount. For those familiar with this fine lens, is there an optimum macro reproduction ratio "sweet spot"?

I'd say around 1:3 or thereabouts.  At 1:1, you sometimes do get a blue fringing.

In Nikon parlance, the CV 125/2.5 is a 'Micro' not 'Macro' lens.

Beware of its susceptibility to knocks in particular from the front. It is *not* built like a 'tank'.

Thank you Bjorn! I have not had a chance to do much close work yet but for general use it has provided excellent images. I will be aware not to abuse this fine instrument, difficult to repair or replace.

I'm lucky to have Erik [lund] help me maintain my APO-Lanthars in top shape. However my guess is he rather saw the lenses better designed and built :D

As the 125/2.5 is an essential item for me, I have several copies of it.
