That's a beautiful image that tells a great story.  The fact that there is a light there really adds to the setting of a pump, which I assume is self service.  Please tell me that there is NO building behind you.

Desolation and remoteness personified, great light too!
 Simple yet striking image, well seen and photographed.
I do notice noise in the sky, it's not too distracting but I'm surprised considering the relatively low iso chosen.

You should not be surprised, Tony. A tell-tale sign of low contrast (areas within the frame) which in turn exacerbates noise later in the work flow. This happens with *any* digital camera and is inherent to the digital technology.

Sorry Bjorn, I'm not convinced in this case 
I have thousands of examples of low contrast images containing skies where I don't see this level of noise, perhaps my work flow methodology is different.
Please don't think I'm being difficult, that's not the case!
I'm wondering if the image shown is a large crop, has had exposure lifted or sharpening applied to the entire image, I say these things because I'm learning still, obviously.
I will add, it doesn't ruin the image for me it's just something I noticed.

Very cool image .  If you blink and miss it , how far to the next station.  Reminds me of the signs in the west of the US saying 85 miles to the next station

We have to ask the photographer. But having processed my share of low-contrast images, I stick to my assumption.

Try make a shot of a bland almost perfectly white wall. The histogram will show nothing but a narrow spike in the middle. Then, increase contrast by using a Curve tool or similar. You'll get a terrible noise even at your camera's native ISO setting. Just try it.
