Simone - a really nice shot!

Capture One 9.3 doesn't recognize the file - is it a compressed RAW?

Yes it is compressed RAW.
Thanks for letting me know this information, although it is not good news.
I am using Aperture (which does not see the RAW files; I am using the JPEGs) but I am considering moving to Capture One and playing with it a bit.
However I am using Capture One Express for Sony (I have an RX100) and have not been testing Fuji files so far.

I did try to upload an RAF file but of course it was too large! Cos I don't do Dropbox or the like! Of the treatments shown, I prefer Danial's version.

I normally use Lightroom and occasionally Photo Ninja, and of course Apple has not got around to recognising X-T2 RAF files yet but I expect they will eventually get around to it??? I download RAF and JPEG files into a folder in Finder, which shows the files but not a RAW thumbnail, and thence into Lightroom. Lightroom sees the RAF files no problems! I assume that Lightroom is ACR with a few bells and whistles added on, and am pleased with the output that I see, which on a Retina screen are pretty good! when the files are uploaded to the forums I subscribe to there is a substantial degradation to what I see, I assume this effect is down to the forum software doing things to the files for display reasons! this is not a complaint but an observation!

When I moved to Fuji I already had Lr so I just carried on using it, at first the Program was not good to RAF files but after a couple of updates it is much improved.

"I did try to upload an RAF file but of course it was too large!"

A comment from the side: the forum is not set to accept any RAW file of whatever kind. Size is not the important parameter in this case.

I cannot get the compressed RAF to work with RawTherapee.

It works however with Affinity.

I will take some pictures in uncompressed RAW and when I have the time (not today) and upload them, for the benefit of those who cannot handle the compressed RAW.

As for compressed RAW's - might be that support for X-Pro2 and X-T2 is still preliminary. It is being debated at Luminous Landscape (http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=113553.msg934533#msg934533).

If you are looking into switching to Capture One you should check the list of non-supported features - I copied the list below from the official Capture One site. Note that this list also applies to older camera models:

LCC/Automask/Export DNG/Repair layers - Not supported

Link: https://www.phaseone.com/en/Products/Software/Capture-One-Pro/Supported-Cameras.aspx

I skipped Capture One version 8 because they still didn't support these features and I was rather hesitant wrt. version 9 because they are still not supported.

Also, my understanding is that Capture One does not support GPU processing on Fuji RAF's (source: Luminous Landscape forum). Not sure if that is platform dependent (Windows, Apple ..)

Bjorn, I didn't know that, just goes to show ya learn something new every day.  8)

Funnily I wasn't informed of file incompatibility, just that the file was too large!

Anybody who has used Lightroom in combination with Nik Sharpener Pro? For X-Trans files I mean. If yes, how does it compare to Ninja?

Please use Dropbox or something like that where you can share the file with others by sending them a link or posting the link here for them to download. Browsers as such doesn't have the ability to show/process raw files from digital cameras however some sites like Dropbox can extract the embedded JPG and display that.

Although apparently the image I uploaded cannot be previewed - maybe because it is lossless compressed?

I read this post with the due attention only now and am very grateful to you for highlighting all this, since I was on the verge of starting a trial with Capture one Pro 9.3 with a view to completely switch from Aperture.

This notwithstanding my doubts about database features, interface, workflow and the use of external RAW editors, which I am managing OK in Aperture. I thought all those issues might be worked around after becoming more accustomed to the software, however the Fuji X-T2 is now my main camera and the features not supported for this model are too numerous and too important - it just would not work for me. (also lossless compressed RAW is not supported. WTF?!).

AFAIK it is game over for Capture one Pro. I had been trying to get accustomed to it starting from the free "Express for Sony" version, it seems that I have been wasting my time. Pity...

Capture One is famous for the nice look Canon and Nikon images at their default rendering.  That's why studio and commercial photogs use it for the live client display while shooting.  I recently took a quick look at the C-1 9.X free trial, and found that the fine detail rendering on Fuji X Trans images was visibly better than Lightroom, but it was inferior to Photo Ninja, which uses the DCRaw raw conversion engine.  That's just my assessment, YMMV.

That's pretty much what I also read.
Iridient is also superior for RAF file development, and that is what I am using, but it would not make much sense using Capture One.
Anyway this is moot since there are too many issues related to X-T2 support to make the proposition appealing to me, at least for the moment (it seems unlikely to change though)
