Beautiful image Michael.  The complementary orange/yellow leaves and blue sky very nicely rendered.

Indeed, and the contrast remains high despite the lighting. But the most interesting aspect is the contrast between the upper left (sun) and upper right corner (dark sky, also because of vignetting that often seems to be strnog with Zeiss lenses)

I can feel the pleasant atmosphere of autumn.

dark sky, also because of vignetting that often seems to be strnog with Zeiss lenses

Judging from the formation of the sun-star, I would guess that the lens was well stopped down to mitigate the vignetting?

Well observed - but the upper right corner is still relatively dark, -1EV I'd say compared to the patches of blue sky in the middle.

Hmm...the Distagon 25/2.8 from Yashica/Contax days showed strong vignetting even well stopped down.  I'm not sure if the latest Otus with narrower FOV would behave similarly.  There could be some faint clouds in the middle?

Yes, remaining vignetting while stopped down is common with Zeiss lenses. Michael will tell us. Anyway that does not spoil the image.

Agreed.  That's the baseline.
