Very colorful series, David and versatile as well. Hard to pick one favourite, all of them are so good.

Nice series indeed, it is great that you at least have the time and energy to document the coming of fall while i am stuck in my office...
I like the bigh oak particularly.

Jakov - I've been hoping you would take a look at my "missing aurora" thread. (It should have been dedicated to you.)

Akira - my own two favourites also. And my favourite time of year, both in Japan and Scotland.

Autumn is shaping up nicely, it should be near perfect by the time I come to visit you :)
Let's hope a storm does not come in the meantime, and blow all the leaves away.
All I am asking is for little wind, sunny, warm days and frosty, clear nights - is that asking for too much?

David,

On a second look I'm with more time I'm really liking 2016Fall004, 006 and 011. Life and death in Fall006 is striking. The plant seems to be struggling to live and just making it. Do you know what kind of bush or tree it is? Can you tell what has caused its distress?

I really like your Autumn portfolio, Dave, particularly:

#1 - "pastoral" is the adjective that springs to mind here

#5 - a nice little life and death drama here, as Dave Hartman suggested

#8 - Autumn struggling to put in an appearance. Very much the case here in Tokyo, where Autumn is still far from imminent.

Thank you, Jakov, Erik, Simone, David and Mike. It's nice to get your approval for what is a set of very quiet pictures - I like the early, quiet part of autumn, when the fireworks are still to come.

Mike and David - it's a case of "the king is dead, long live the king" - what you are looking at is two plants; a wild rose-bush (with the red rose-hips) growing up through the skeleton of a dead thorn-bush, most likely hawthorn. It probably died because the ground was too wet.

Wet weather is colours' best friend ... as these images vividly demonstrate.

The last one, of a Swidia (Cornus) branch, has remarkable detail and very elegant composition and colour contrast. With images such as this, one tends to bear over with the Black List status of the genus :D
