Airy, do you mean it was better then? I would agree, based on my own experience with two grown-up kids. It can be hard starting at 13-14, but usually it gets better when they reach maturity, whenever that is... So hang on there...

About the picture: a bit more DOF may have helped, I think. I often struggle to balance my will to get rid of details in the background, and to maintain enough detail on the face. And of course as I shoot handheld with a large window as only light source, you can imagine the dilemma.
Yesterday I bought a large LCD panel (60x60cm), neutral white with good light intensity. I will soon see how it works as a softbox. The first results are promising but I need to get a stand.
