Trying to do some business
« on: October 01, 2016, 15:34:52 »
Taken this summer at Nathan Phillip's Square here in downtown Toronto.
Many seagulls make the square their home, mainly because so many people feed them food scraps.
I was walking around when I noticed a couple eating their lunch el fresco while a seagull stood nearby by obviously hoping to get a scrap of bun. I found the interaction between the couple, the bird, and the nearby onlookers amusing, and grabbed this shot.

Yes, you surely captured the most interesting moment.  I enjoy this image very much.

Akira,
Thanks for commenting.
I was fortunate to grab the shot at this particular instant, and when I got the slide back and scanned it, I debated whether to crop out the couple on our left and place both the gull and one of his benefactors in a thirds position, thinking it would make the composition stronger.
But I really liked the amused facial expressions of the on-lookers, which I felt added something to the story.
So in the end I went with a triangular composition, and was pleased with the result.

Robert, I'm glad you didn't crop the image.  To me, the composition is perfect as it is.  If you would crop the on-lookers, the seagull will come too close to the edge, which is not nice.  And, of course, the on-lookers are essential elements of the image.
