I was aiming at balance in the exposure though.

I am familiar with the problem. However, even though exposure issues are real even in the digital domain, there is no penalty to step outside the "real" world and recreate it more as we perceive it ourselves. Even a change in camera vantage point or re-framing the image could help us create something different.

This photograph looks better against a dark background [as currently proceed] I prefer to tweak a photo for background it will be shown against.

I find programs like Capture CNX-D that do not offer the option to view an image against the type of background it will ultimately be viewed against a problem.

Totally agree. Looks good in CNX2. If printed I will put it in a dark frame.

Btw. I made an adjustment to the sunshade of the 50/1.4G out of an old cola bottle.
