Note, some of the sidecars have steering wheels. They are used to adjust the wheel tilt.











1/250 is still a bit fast for good panning shots ;-(

Andreas, very nice images.  Now I did not know that about the sidecar having a steering wheel  , many thanks, I'd always seen the second body used as in some of the images, for down force.  I really like the way you've included the spectators instead of tight crops.  I agree with panning speeds.  I normally start at something like 1/40 and hen move faster until I find the best balance.  I've shot people on Bicycles and walking at very low speeds for fun.  Big , slow birds are relatively easy.

I only had an 80-200 with me, so most shots are already crops.
And I like to include the dirt spray when possible.

I agree with panning speeds.  I normally start at something like 1/40 and hen move faster until I find the best balance. 

I started off with 1/1000, chimping showed me that this is way too boring.
But then I caught up in the action and did not venture further down than 1/250.. Silly, should have tried 80-120  ,-(

I did use a monopod at my eye level ( ~1.85) for a stable base from which I could shoot over the barrier. Not the best angle, but the best I could do under circumstances.

Yup, I normally wind  up around 1/100  .  Also much easier when the targets are closer to perpendicular to me.  I've tried shooting motor bikes as they come toward me but very hard to get the right effect.  I used to have to be up early mornings in Mumbai so would kill time by trying to pan everything for practice.
D700, 28-70 2.8 at f6.3,1/90.   Slower would have been better but I'm not that good

Now they are going full out. I like best the 3rd one.
