Movement and Image

Oviedo, 3 days workshop with dancers as part of a bigger and very interesting project about choreography itself.

  For those of you not familiar with the process, pictures are taken everyday while the dancers are either improvising, warming up, doing routines, etc... Some of those go on the rehearsal wall the next day to be use as learning, craetive or inspirational tools. So images evolve, some new are taken, go next day on the wall...and so on. An average of 30 to 40 are printed every morning

  Day 1:

The d750 to the rescue again as a typical picture will be around iso 6400 f2.8 1/160

  Day 2, with some dancers looking at the prints.

 My work is finished here but I will stick around a little to see it through.

 I hope this gives an impression of how it works.

I generally prefer simpler compositions, and there are some of my favorites.   But I also see a couple of excellent exceptions: #3 from Day 1 and #1 from Day 2.  Actually they may be THE favorites of mine in this series.  Thanks for sharing, Paco!

Emotional and sensual. Need a bigger screen to value them accordingly.

I love the high energy shots ... girl jumping over the top ...
group approaching ... as well as the very relaxed shots ... girl resting with unsharp figure in front.

can not yet figure out all of your decisions  on focussing. Some of them seem pretty unusual to me.

  I started with the simpler, almost minimal images as it comes easier to me. Busy frames with dancers mean even lower keeper rates. Sometimes it pays off. Working on this

   Focus decision are a big theme for explaining. It usually involves why, the mood, intention, some happy mistakes... I´ll really like to have sometime to go over them in person and exchange opinions. For now, point anyone out and I will do my best to explain.

  Yes, there is son "warming up" every time I come back to this projects. That you can tell is not a good sign
   The relationship with all the artist involved is excellent. I have also take class, teach one day and have helped with some rehearsals so that counts to, I guess.
   They are a wonderful group of people
