Here I found an interesting article about the title.  Luminous Landscape requires subscriptions to read their articles now, but this article is a free one:

Thanks for the link Akira. So what I understand an update is coming in August.  I already noticed strange colour-situations in which case -save-for-web was a solution. It's not only the printing what is affected to my idea. Rolling back to the old version seems the ultimate solution right now ;)

John, glad that the article is of any help.

I don't print, but I noticed that the JPEG files saved "for-web" looks slightly washed-out when viewed in Firefox.  That didn't happen in the past.  So, in my case, the symptom seems to be different from what you are experiencing.  I'm not sure if it is related to the issue described in the article...

The issue affects only the CC(rental) versions of ACR/Lightroom and only on Macs.  My perpetual copy of Lightroom 6.6.1/Mac seems to be unaffected.

Keith, thanks for the note.

I'm mostly using Windows version (on Win10) which should not be affected by the glitch in question.  My experience of the discrepancy described above would then caused by other issue?

Maybe someone that has experience with Firefox AND Windows 10 can answer?

I noticed the problem recently.  I'm not sure but the problem might have emerged since I updated CC2015 to 2015.5....

My Windows 10 sytem with CC works flawlessly. The only "discrepency" came from a missing profile for my Mitsubishi Thermosub. But this was a Mitsubishi issue obviously.

Since they released good profiles, the Thermosub delivers very good colors too

I'm having a similar problem CC 2015.6 & win 7

images look fine when in preview, without pressing play, in the browsers, and inside LR/PS
the odd colors are shown in the file explorer and when playing a series of images with the windows image viewer

I'm exporting the jpgs to sRGB as usual

I don't know if this is a new problem for you associated with an ACR update but from what I understand windows image viewer is color space blind, so to speak. It shows overly saturated sRGB images on my machine (Win10). Seeings how the images look fine in browsers (assuming you are referring to color managed browsers such as chrome) I would suggest to either not trust windows image viewer for colors or find a color managed image viewer to replace it.

Frank, Armando and Charlie, thanks for the additional info.

I also suspect that the image viewer of Windows is color space blind (or ignorant), just like IE.  But, like I mentioned, I don't think I have had the color discrepancy issue of JPEG files at least between Photoshop and Firefox.

My general impression of Windows 10 is that it has continuously been beta version since its official release in the summer of last year, and has constantly been updated in the background including its bundled software.  So, it is very difficult to trace the version history and nail the cause of the problem.   :(

How exactly are you converting your files?

Lightroom export, Photoshop legacy save for web, some other method...?

I always select "legacy save for web" in  Photoshop CC.

PS: I do not use Lightroom, although I got at least 3 Licenses (3 standalone, 5 standalone, CC)

I always select "legacy save for web" in  Photoshop CC.

What happens if you save the file straight out of ACR, or Lightroom (if you use Lightroom).

Also, have you tried viewing the file in another browser such as Chrome and does it show the same color discrepancy?
