Russian Highest Resolution lenses
« on: July 20, 2016, 08:19:43 »
Always ogled those, but was never convinced they could really be used on modern camera equipment,
as they were computed by four female scientists under Prof. Volossov at GOI /St. Petersburg for chip
making machinery, but I finally jumped and here now a few results using these...

The 2.8/105mm at work:

Why would "female" lenses be inferior? Your examples neatly illustrate the gender of the designer(s) is moot ...

Usually lens designers were males, so for me that they designed them was special. As an engineer when I started studying
it was just 4 out of about 400 students, and they were much brighter than their male colleagues. Later on I worked with one
of them and she once told me that as a female you had to be at least twice as good to make up with the males. It was a real
pleasure to work with her...

It was my type of a compliment.... ;-)

Klaus, even on my mediocre screen, the fidelity of the lenses can be felt.

In which mount are they originally made?

some really excellent IQ. However, Mongo has no idea which lenses you are referring to. Can you please tell us the name or brand ?

sorry to have posed the question. It seems "GOI" is the brand and one Mongo has never heard of previously. Worth investigating on your posted results. It will be interesting to see how available they are and at what cost compared to comparable of other brands. Thanks you for this very interesting post.

PS - Mongo particularly likes so many aspects of #1

Where can one buy these?
How did you convert them to "F" ???

The first picture is very touching and I love "countable hair" style resolution!°

As far as I remember - I used to work with Soviet (Russians) lenses -  there was not 105/2.8, but 100/2.8 Caleinar lens, Leica-copy optically, or even a little bit better, in Nikon mount, but terrible mechanically. Every my copy of that lenses needed to be open by me, fixed to be reliable.  So the rest of them, created by Russians Female engineers! LZ
