Projection lenses
« on: July 03, 2016, 14:42:37 »
Anyone here using projection lenses as taking lenses? I have developed quite a taste for those and use
them quite often for my flower works...

A rather strange Rodenstock Projection Lens (Petzval type) to start with...

That Schneider Cine Xenon gives very pleasing results. How does the setup look on a camera?

a bit odd and unusual and people are looking ;-)

This is what I use to mount such lenses:

That certainly looks interesting. Might be worth experimenting with as I am still looking for at least one unique, fast medium tele lens to use on my D3

These type of lenses in general are indeed quite rewarding, after having mastered their razor thin DOF, with rich colors, great contrast and very smooth and creamy bokeh!

They can still be found for rather small amounts, yet prices are increasing fast over the last months, the phase where they were neglected sleepers is over, so I cannot more than emphasize to start now with this quite different type of photography if so interested!!

The second image by Cine Xenon stands out to me: great combination of sharpness, color and bokeh.  How long is its focal length?

Thanks, Klaus.  The focal length as well as the speed look just about right for the purpose.

Yes indeed, quite happy with the results and how the lens works and feels ;-)
