Tailgating - Halloween - Irving, Texas - 2004

I do not believe I have posted this photo anywhere, but I am not 100% sure.  It was shot in 2004 with an Olympus XA rangefinder film camera.  The location is Texas Stadium, the old home of the American football team, the Dallas Cowboys.  When I first shot this, I made a print in my darkroom and used a home-made vignetting tool made from mesh screen.  Later, I scanned the negative into a digital file and then played around with it to try and simulate the original silver print I made.  This very closely matches the original print.

Thanks for all of the comments.

As to what he is cooking?  Why, bratwurst sausages, of course..... 8)

When I shot this, I was aware of the two guys in the background on the left, but looking through the very small viewfinder on the XA, I never noticed the figure at the top.  To this day, I wonder what he/she was doing.  This was a game between the Dallas Cowboys and their hated rivals, the Washington Redskins.  It was Halloween, a lot of drinking was going on, and there were people like this fellow everywhere.  It was one of the strangest games I have ever been to.

It is a good thing that he's wearing an apron, as he got a bit messy with some of the fixin's.  I would have thought he'd be grilling up some brains. (BTW- Nice shot.)

The face mask, hair and then the tie says it all.  Were there others dressed up like this?

Yes, it is the tie that really set the shot for me. 8)

Lowell, it was Halloween and there were quite a few people out there wearing costumes and dressed up, but no one that I saw looked as gruesome as this fellow, and I walked all over the place.
