Killing time at Jimmy's
« on: April 26, 2016, 16:19:38 »
Taken earlier this spring in Kensington, here in Toronto.
Jimmy's is a popular coffee shop in the Market that has a recessed front door inside a little alcove with benches.
I was sitting in the alcove across from a couple busily engaged in their phones. I liked the composition and the light, so setting my lens to hyperfocus, I placed the camera on the bench beside me and got this shot.
Converted to black and white in Photoshop.
Nikon S3 rangefinder
Cosina Voigtlander 21 f4 in Nikon S mount
Fuji 100 ISO colour slide
5.6 @ 1/125th

I shoot with film. That's film. F...i...l...m. You remember film. It was in all the papers.

You majestically portrayed the world we are living in. I sometimes wonder why do people leave their houses to congregate with other humans if they are to be stuck behind their smartphones?
There is a lovey brunch place near my apartment and there I see people arriving with their laptops. Just sitting there for hours behind their screens. At first I thought they didn't have internet connection at home, but my views on this differ more and more. Perhaps they are on Nikongear  ::)

I agree with Jakov - living in a world where the only connection some people have, is with a cell phone. It's not criticism - it's an observation

That's all we ever wanted - and now we have it :D.
